چکیده

The effect of Ca and Zn in solid solution on the critical resolved shear stress (CRSS) basal slip, tensile twinning pyramidal slip Mg alloys has been measured through compression tests single crystal micropillars with different orientations. solute atoms increased CRSS for to ~ 13.5 MPa, while was lower than 85 reducing significantly plastic anisotropy comparison pure Mg. Moreover, CRSSs twin nucleation growth were very similar (~ 37 MPa) large value hindered twins during thermo-mechanical processing. Finally, evidence prismatic cross-slip between dislocations found. It is concluded that reduction anisotropy, activation systems weak texture promoted by are responsible improved ductility formability Mg-Ca-Zn alloys.

Development of biodegradable Zn-1X binary alloys with nutrient alloying elements Mg, Ca and Sr

Biodegradable metals have attracted considerable attentions in recent years. Besides the early launched biodegradable Mg and Fe metals, Zn, an essential element with osteogenic potential of human body, is regarded and studied as a new kind of potential biodegradable metal quite recently. Unfortunately, pure Zn is soft, brittle and has low mechanical strength in the practice, which needs further...

Addition of Zn to the ternary Mg-Ca-Sr alloys significantly improves their antibacterial property.

Most of the magnesium (Mg) alloys possess excellent biocompatibility, mechanical property and biodegradability in orthopedic applications. However, these alloys may suffer from bacterial infections due to their insufficient antibacterial capability. In order to reduce the post-surgical infections, a series of biocompatible Mg-1Ca-0.5Sr-xZn (x=0, 2, 4, 6) alloys were fabricated with the addition...

In Vitro Degradation Behavior of Ternary Mg-Zn-Se and Mg-Zn-Cu Alloys as Biomaterials.

In this study, the corrosion behavior of Mg-Zn-Se and Mg-Zn-Cu alloys was investigated to evaluate their corrosion behavior related to use as implantable biomaterials. The corrosion behavior of these alloys and a commercially available Mg-Zn alloy were examined using static solution electrochemical testing, dynamic solution gravimetric testing, ion leaching testing, and microscopic evaluation. ...

Improved mechanical performance and delayed corrosion phenomena in biodegradable Mg-Zn-Ca alloys through Pd-alloying.

The influence of partial substitution of Mg by Pd on the microstructure, mechanical properties and corrosion behaviour of Mg(72-x)Zn(23)Ca(5)Pd(x) (x=0, 2 and 6 at.%) alloys, synthesized by copper mould casting, is investigated. While the Mg(72)Zn(23)Ca(5) alloy is mainly amorphous, the addition of Pd decreases the glass-forming ability, thus favouring the formation of crystalline phases. From ...
